Album: Van Slyke Self Winding Time Switch clock

The Seth Thomas Clock Co. made a considerable number of different movements, clocks and parts for a large number of Inventors and other companies such as this clock and for The Self Winding Clock Company. The movement in this clock has no patent date but research has located Patent # 1.413,075 by John C. Van Slyke dated April 18, 1922 of Washington, D.C. Mr. J. C. Van Slyke also patented an earlier version of this movement in1907, Pat. # 875,017 and then again in 1913 by pat. # 1,080,608. He states in his patents that "It is the object of this invention to provide a clock with mechanism that will switch on and off at predetermined times the lamps of an electric lighting system and that will at the same time utilize the current of the electric lighting system to intermittently wind the clock." This clock does exactly that.  The centre ring sets the time switch, month and day calendar.
